As the demand for new capabilities increases, Microsoft has been working to reduce licensing costs and complexity for its partners and customers.
Namely, Microsoft launched the New Commerce Experience (NCE) for Microsoft Azure in 2019, then, late in 2021, added Microsoft 365, Dynamics 365, Windows 365, and Power Platform to the New Commerce Experience. The NCE provides your Microsoft re-seller with new tools to simplify and manage your subscriptions.
In 2021, Microsoft also announced a price increase that included the first such increase to the Microsoft 365 suite since its release over ten years ago.
The new pricing reflects the ever-growing value of the M365 platform and is a component of Microsoft’s NCE, which will eventually host all purchasing and licensing processes.

New M365 Pricing for Commercial and Enterprise Customers
The Timing of These Changes
- Commercial and Enterprise customer pricing will take effect March 1, 2022.
- Non-profit and Education products will not be affected by the price increases in March.
Options for Term
- Monthly terms can be purchased at a 20% premium; not all SKUs will have monthly term options.
- The annual term can be purchased with upfront, annual, or monthly payments.
